Female journalist Shaheena Shaheen was shot dead at her house in Turbat, Balochistan this Saturday. The 25 year old was an editor for a local magazine as well as an anchor person for PTV, the state owned broadcaster. Shaheen’s lamentable death was a case of domestic violence according to police official Najeebullah Pandrani and the murder is being investigated. The deceased was also a student of fine arts at the University of Balochistan.

She was gunned down in her home and suffered three bullet wounds, succumbing to her injuries in the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Turbat. No arrests have been made but the family has moved to lodge an FIR against her husband who she married just 5 months ago. Her body was given to her family for burial. Her death has been mourned by both non-state actors such as the Freedom Network who asked for justice for her death and state actors such as Finance Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi and Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani who warned that the culprits will not get away.
