Prime Minister Imran Khan Offers to Share Cash Transfer Program With India

The lockdown has been especially tough for poverty stricken households which have been adversely affected by unemployment and a failing market. Prime Minister Imran Khan citing a report said that 34% of Indian households will not be able to survive for more than a week without financial aid. The Center for Monitoring Indian Economy noted that 33 million of those in their 30s and millions more in their 20s are left jobless because of the crisis.

Prime Minister Imran Khan took the opportunity to offer help on twitter,

“I am ready to offer help & share our successful cash transfer prog, lauded internationally for its reach & transparency, with India.”

Khan also tweeted about the success of this money transfer program,

“Our govt successfully transferred Rs. 120 billion in 9 weeks to over 10 million families in a transparent manner to deal with the COVID19 fallout on the poor.”
